THE PATH  Great Doubt  Who am I? Why am I here? What’s the point? Why me? How do I get out of this? Great Faith I’m here for a reason. I trust that I can learn and grow. I trust that other people are worth the struggle. I know that every situation is workable. Great Determination I’m willing to keep going. I choose to stay. I surrender to what is....

Hello Positive People, Here’s hoping that your first month into the new year is off to a smashing start. If not, it’s never too late. Remember it’s all about the power of NOW. One thing that’s worked for me so far in 2010 has been around building self-regulation. According to research, Americans exude this as lesser of all character strengths. In other words, we’re not good at self-control. (Not surprising, right?) But, what we also know is that self-regulation is important - it builds attention (which is limited to begin with). Can you believe Albert Einstein said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” I’ve been thinking on this lately. Albert Einstein was a smart, smart man. The second of these visits brought me to Washington DC, where the Mind Life Institute presented an annual congress on learning called “Educating World Citizens” which brought together over 2,000 international voices. The Dalai Lama participated in all sessions over two days, which engaged western scientists concerned about the good life, particularly in regard to schooling (teaching/learning). Session topics included: Envisioning the World Citizen; Attention, Emotional Regulation, and Learning; Compassion and Empathy, and Future Directions and Policy. To sum, we discussed how to educate...

“Love is in the air, everywhere I look around Love is in the air, every sight and every sound” (lyrics by Paul Young) Love is such a strange phenomenon. We all want it. We all need it. But do we all have it?

I recently learned of a very cool definition of love: “Love is the flowing, the outpouring the rendering from the heart and soul of emotional goodness to yourself first, - - and then to others in your life.” (from the Hoffman Institute) With yourself first! Herein lies A KEY. * Do you love yourself? * * Do you really love yourself? * Love changes the brain. It’s all about...
