This piece was first published on Positive Psychology News Daily. The alarm goes off in the morning. You may think: I didn't get enough sleep last night. I am super excited to start the day. Most people, whether they are conscious of it or not, think (a) “I didn’t get enough sleep last night” as they hit the snooze button for eight more minutes of sleep. In fact, it’s a thought like this that causes an action of inaction which keeps you staying in bed, missing your workout, and being late to work. Further, this thought of “not enough” is the first in a slew of...

I've been thinking about pride lately. Like what it means to have it - be it - own it - live it. Like note just on a float in a parade -but what it means to really feel it. Emotional connection is such a key ingredient to a well-lived-life because it leads to emotional contagion - yet I believe we've been conditioned to live with these low levels of cortisol; that the norm is negativity and without awareness, we just don't even realize it. It’s a beautiful prewar building and my apartment, on the third floor, is flooded with natural light from the south and the east. It’s a bit “complex,” as my friend Emiliya says, meaning it is NOT cookie cutter: there are hardwood floors, exposed bricks, and even a tin ceiling. I am happy here. I knew I would be as soon as I walked into the open house the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. But when unfurled after that (until now)...
